AMC: Award-Winning Marathon Channel
In the wake of last week's Emmycast, American Movie Classics is offering viewers a chance to catch up with their two big winners, Mad Men (named Outstanding Drama Series, among other things) and Breaking Bad (starring Best Actor Bryan Cranston). Tomorrow — that's Thursday, September 25th, for the calendar-challenged — AMC will be re-airing the first eight episodes of Mad Men's second season, beginning at 4 p.m. EST. And on Wednesday, October 1st, beginning at 8 p.m. EST, AMC will be airing the complete first season of Breaking Bad.
A Mad Men marathon is pretty much a weekly occurrence at AMC these days, but Breaking Bad has been off-the-air since its last episode aired earlier this year, and it's not yet on DVD. This show about a cancer-ridden science teacher who uses his mastery of chemistry to become an unlikely meth kingpin is at once funny, suspenseful, melancholy and moving, as well as being a complex inquiry into morals. Catch up with it before Season Two begins airing in 2009.
