AMC blesses Preacher with a second season
AMC’s Preacher is less than halfway through its first season, but the cable network has just said the hell with it and renewed the show for another season of blasphemy, debauchery, and whatever it is that Odin Quincannon’s up to. And according to Variety, the second season will have 13 episodes—one for each person at the Last Supper (unless you believe Dan Brown).
AMC president Charlie Collier sang the show’s praises (in a press release), calling Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic “a special television program” that the network is “eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season.” Collier also says the network looks forward to spending “more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond,” which presumably means we’ll get that New Orleans arc at some point.
Season two of Preacher will air sometime in 2017, but in the meantime, you can catch up with season one with a half-marathon on Thursday, June 30 starting at 9 p.m. Eastern.
