AMC lands that Tom Hiddleston/Hugh Laurie miniseries

Internet browsers worldwide shook today as the Tumblr hive-mind collectively sighed in pleasure at news that beloved pop-culture bad boys Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston would be teaming up for a new miniseries on AMC. The network has picked up co-ownership and American broadcast rights to The Night Manager, the BBC-co-produced adaptation of John le Carré’s 1993 novel, after a bidding war involving multiple networks.

The series tells the story of a former soldier turned hotel auditor who becomes embroiled in a conflict between a mysterious woman and a black-market arms dealer. It’s not clear at this time how many episodes will be in the series, or which of the lead roles Laurie and Hiddleston, both of whom are returning to television after multi-year absences, will play. There’s also no word yet on what cute portmanteau nickname Internet fans will come up with when they talk about the duo dropping all of the boring, convoluted espionage plotline stuff in favor of descriptions of graphic, non-canonical Dr. House/Loki sex.
