AMC’s airing all 87 episodes of The Walking Dead next week
Ensuring that now you, too, can know what it’s like to be a shambling, sleepless creature ruled entirely by its mindless and base compulsions, AMC has announced that it’ll be running all 87 episodes of The Walking Dead over the course of the next week. The extended marathon will see the show’s first season and half of its second air on Sunday, October 16 at 7.a.m Eastern, with the rest of the series running on subsequent nights until the show’s seventh-season premiere on October 23.
In between all those rotating cast members, exploding heads, and Sheriff Rick’s annual “This is what we all gotta do to survive” speech, AMC will also air a retrospective on the series, Journey So Far, to catch people up. (Given that it airs on the marathon’s first night, you might want to skip that one if this is your first time through the show.) The event is part of the network’s wider Fearfest, which also features classic horror films like The Exorcist and Halloween, and which runs from the 13th until October 31.
