America’s most patriotic couple one away from visiting every Cracker Barrel
Meet Ray and Wilma Yoder, an Indiana couple married for 60 years who have spent the last half century on a quest that will likely never be duplicated. According to ABC News, the Yoders are now one restaurant away from visiting all 645 Cracker Barrels in our great nation. Cracker Barrel, for those who’ve never taken a 100 mile-plus road trip in these United States, is the chain of country fried-themed restaurants and gift emporiums found along the nation’s interstate roadways. If ever we could synthesize our country’s cuisine one one menu (particularly food of the American South), Cracker Barrel would come closest: all-day breakfasts, meatloaf, chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, pies, and fruit cobblers.
The Yoders, who are in their 80s, are obviously big fans. Having visited many locations throughout their cross-country travels, they decided on a whim to see if they could visit every location. Ray Yoder told ABC News that they once visited 10 Cracker Barrels in one day during a drive from Orlando to Canada. The last location on their list—until a new Cracker Barrel opens, that is—is in Portland, Oregon, which they plan to check off the list later this year. We salute you, true patriots.
