American Horror Story’s election-inspired season won’t have a Trump or Hillary
It’s still really unclear what Ryan Murphy meant when he said that the next season of American Horror Story will deal with the 2016 election. However, he clarified one point in an interview with E! recently: The episodes will not feature actors playing Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but footage of the two will appear. “We don’t have actors playing them,” Murphy explained. “You’ll see them on television. The first 10 minutes of the season, this season, takes place in a very eerie macabre way on election night and there’s something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night as they’re watching it all go down. Which in itself was a horror story, so it’s like a horror story upon a horror story.”
That still doesn’t give us any insight as to how the season will add terror on top of the nightmare we are currently living, but we can only assume, based on what we know about AHS, there will be some sort of supernatural element. Still, it does imply that this isn’t simply going to be Murphy’s spin on a Game Change-type production.
