American Horror Story’s reign of terror extended through ninth season
FX is banking on American Horror Story for years to come. The network announced today that it has given Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology the go ahead for its eighth and ninth seasons. Perhaps one of those will be the super spooky “secret season” which Murphy teased in an Entertainment Weekly interview last year.
“American Horror Story launched the modern limited series revolution and – as evidenced by the most recent installment Roanoke—it remains as vital today as when Murder House stunned audiences six years ago,” FX CEO John Landgraf said in a statement. “Each new chapter is a cultural event, beloved for every new twist in imagery, style, cast and plot.”
In November, AHS wrapped up its sixth installment—My Roanoke Nightmare, the theme of which was kept largely under wraps until its premiere. We don’t know what mix of terror and camp Murphy has planned, but we do know that he has said all of the seasons are indeed connected.
