Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper will get an IMAX release, according to Entertainment Weekly. That’s good news for those who felt the film’s heart-pounding trailer just wasn’t stressful enough on a regular-sized movie screen. While IMAX releases are generally reserved for snappier action fare, this time around it will be the somber story of America’s most lethal sniper getting the mega-movie treatment. The film is currently being digitally remastered for the IMAX format, so that each subtle shift in Bradley Cooper’s restrained performance and every tear shed by Sienna Miller can be seen in pristine detail on a 4,000 square foot screen. The film hits both regular and IMAX theaters on January 16.
