Amy Schumer, Hot Saucerman, Wyatt Cenac, and ton of podcasts are going to SXSW
SXSW, Austin’s celebration of pretty much everything, has announced the lineup for the comedy portion of its festivities, and it’s practically a who’s who of great podcast hosts and guests. We love podcasts here at The A.V. Club, since they’re like the radio but better, so we have a hard time coming up with snotty jokes about a lineup that includes Scott Aukerman, Doug Benson, James Adomian, Nick Kroll, Lauren Lapkus, Dan Harmon, and Staind Glass host Todd Glass. Even some people from TV—a comedy medium that predates podcasts—will make it SXSW, including Wyatt Cenac, Brooks Wheelan, Jay Pharoah, Amy Schumer, and Dan Harmon (who we’re mentioning twice because we realized he’s probably more famous for his TV show than his podcast).
The festival will also host a live script reading of Scott Aukerman and James Adomian’s upcoming IFC sitcom The Embassy, which the press release says will have a “very special cast.” Also, Upright Citizens Brigade co-founders Matt Besser and Matt Walsh will be there to lead a production of UCB’s famous improv show ASSSSCAT, Doug Benson will record two episodes of his Doug Loves Movies podcast, and W. Kamau Bell will host two tapings for live comedy specials that will showcase a handful of other comics.
The comedy part of SXSW will be held in Austin, Texas from March 14-21. The full list of comedians and podcasts involved can be found at the festival’s official site.
