Amy Schumer will be on this season of The Bachelorette, but not as The Bachelorette
For some people, an important step in trying out a new significant other is introducing that person to their friends. It’s an easy way to get another person’s opinion on this new boyfriend/girlfriend, and it helps determine whether or not they’re as cool/attractive/whatever as they seem to be. This season on The Bachelorette, comedian Amy Schumer is going to fill that role for everyone involved. She’ll be going on a date with all of the contestants (they’re not called that, are they?) and then reporting back to The Bachelorette to tell her which ones are there for all the right reasons, and which ones are just trying to pull a weird prank on their real girlfriend, or promote their music career, or get within stabbing distance of host Chris Harrison.
Of course, Schumer isn’t friends with The Bachelorette outside of The Bachelorette—we assume—so this is less of a “if you wanna be my lover, you’ve gotta get with my friends” situation, and more of a “here’s a famous comedian whose career is blowing up, let’s put her on the show” situation. So maybe she’s the one who isn’t there for all the right reasons? A classic Bachelorette twist! You’ve done it again, ABC!
