Amy Sedaris and Bobcat Goldthwait both land series at TruTv

Not to be left out of all the big movings and shakings at the major TV networks this week, comedy-focused cable channel TruTV made some announcements of its own today, albeit without the usual accompanying wave of show-smashing cancellations. Instead, the news from Tru is all renewals and pickups: Adam Ruins Everything, Comedy Knockout, Hack My Life, Impractical Jokers, The Carbonaro Effect, Jon Glaser Loves Gear, Those Who Can’t, and You Can Do Better will all be back for another season on the network.

They won’t be alone, either; Variety reports that TruTV has added five more shows to its ranks, including programs from beloved comedy figures like Bobcat Goldthwait and Amy Sedaris. (Plus Chris Gethard, whose The Chris Gethard Show was already announced to be making the move from Fusion to TruTV.) We wrote a bit about Sedaris’ new show when it was first announced back in January, but the network released some more details today. At Home With Amy Sedaris will see the former Strangers With Candy star invite viewers into her home, the better to be educated on entertaining, making love, murder, and whatever other housekeeping topics catch her constantly delighted interest.

Goldthwait, meanwhile, will helm a new scripted anthology, Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters, which will hop genres every episode—from 1970s-era science fiction, to psychological thriller, romantic comedy, and reality—in the service of awkwardness and comedy. (Anyone who’s familiar with Goldthwait’s directing career, which contains darkly humorous gems like Sleeping Dogs Lie and World’s Greatest Dad, will recognize that he’s precisely in his wheelhouse here.)

TruTV will round out its fall schedule with a new show from comedian Andrea Savage—titled I’m Sorry—and a stand-up series, Laff Mobb’s Laff Tracks. It’s an increasingly packed schedule for the network, which rebranded itself as a comedy channel in 2014.
