Amy Sedaris goes from sniffing glue to singing about it on her TruTV series

As we told you back in January, TruTV is giving weird crafting queen and national comedy treasure Amy Sedaris her own show to serve as a corrective to the insufferable perfection of HGTV. Sedaris was on hand to promote the show at yesterday’s Television Critics Association panel, talking about the “diverse but necessary ” array of comedic homemaking skills on display on what’s now officially titled At Home With Amy Sedaris.

As reported in Deadline, Sedaris says she brought “truckloads of my own stuff” to decorate the show’s set, including a hutch for her pet rabbit, who’s discussed on the show but doesn’t appear in the furry flesh. Each episode will have a theme— “entertaining the grieving, the craft of love making, and cooking without pots and pans” are all cited in a TruTV press release—and a guest star. Stephen Colbert and Jane Krakowski will play themselves (or the exaggerated TV versions of themselves, as the case may be), while Rachel Dratch, Chris Elliott, and Paul Giamatti will appear in character. (Scott Adsit, Cole Escola, Heather Lawless, David Pasquesi, and Sasheer Zamata have also been announced as guest stars.) Sedaris will play an array of characters too, including “a hobo,” “an international wine lady,” and Southern everywoman Patty.

TruTV has also released the first clip from the show, which features Sedaris, who frequently joked about sniffing glue in her book Simple Times: Crafts For Poor People, teaching Krakowski the formula for picking an appropriate adhesive through song. For the craft-impaired like yours truly, it’s actually quite instructive:

At Home With Amy Sedaris was created by Sedaris and her Strangers With Candy co-conspirator Paul Dinello, and is produced by PFFR, the company behind Wonder Showzen and Delocated. The first of 10 half-hour episodes premieres on TruTV on October 24 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
