Amy shadows Glenn in Superstores fall finale

Amy shadows Glenn in Superstore’s fall finale

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, December 13. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Superstore (NBC, 8 p.m., fall finale): Superstore has been quietly killing it all season. Many a series, comedy or otherwise, has failed to successfully navigate the moment when its will-they-won’t-they becomes an oh-there-they-go. but Not so for NBC’s tenderhearted, thoughtful, and quietly subversive workplace comedy, which in its fourth season, has followed the ups and downs of Amy (America Ferrera) and Jonah’s (Ben Feldman) romance without ever allowing the show to lose its ensemble comedy roots or its Cloud 9 backbone.

That said, Superstore also has a flair for the dramatic and a fondness for cliffhangers, so “Shadowing Glenn,” which sees Amy, uh, shadow Glenn (Mark McKinney) has the potential to be a real doozy. Bring on the drama, Superstore, and please allow us at least one sick burn from Mateo.

Regular coverage

Wild card

Dr. Pimple Popper, “The 12 Pops Of Christmas” (TLC, 9 p.m.): We are typically opposed to broad, “there are two kinds of people in this world” statements, but every so often, even that often inaccurate chestnut applies. So, here goes. There are two kinds of people in this world: people who love watching zits and cysts and boils and stuff get obliterated, and everyone else. Odds are, you know into which category you fall. If you’re the former, TLC has the most perfect holiday special imaginable, just for you.
