Amy Winehouse re-teams with Mark Ronson to record Lesley Gore's "It's My Party"

Will Amy Winehouse ever make a comeback? Regardless of how you answer that question, there's a bit of hope in the news from MTV that the beleaguered English soul singer is re-teaming with produced Mark Ronson, the architect of her 2006 breakthrough album, Back To Black. Granted, it's just for one song, and it's a cover: a version of Lesley Gore's pouty anthem from 1963, "It's My Party." The song is being recorded for an upcoming Quincy Jones tribute album titled Q: Soul Bossa Nostra. (Jones produced the Gore original, and is apparently a good sport about who appears on his tribute albums, seeing as how Ronson is a former fiancé of his daughter, Rashida Jones.) Q will be released on Nov. 9; Winehouse's yet-to-be-titled follow-up to Back To Black is still in limbo, although a collaboration with The Roots' ?uestlove is reportedly in the works. Ronson's new album, Record Collection, comes out on Sept. 27.
