Amy Winehouse's father believes she died from a detox-induced seizure
Speculation in the wake of Amy Winehouse's death this summer overwhelmingly lingered on the singer's checkered past with drug and alcohol abuse. But Winehouse's father thinks she died not from succumbing to her addictions, but from fighting them too hard. In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Mitch Winehouse says that his daughter was enduring seizures and periods of unconsciousness while she was withdrawing from alcohol. At the time of her death, "the periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter," he said. "She drank to excess and did detox to excess." Toxicology reports recently showed that Winehouse did not have illegal drugs in her system at the time of her death. Another investigation is slated for October. [Via Spin]
