According to Variety, a biopic about the life of professional wrestling icon Andre Roussimoff (better known as Andre The Giant) is in the works. In a slightly unique twist for a biopic, though, the film will be based on Andre The Giant: Closer To Heaven, an officially authorized graphic novel biography by Brandon Easton and Denis Medri. That book follows Roussimoff’s life from his childhood in France working on the family farm to his rise through the professional wrestling ranks—alongside the rise of professional wrestling itself, which Variety notes is “due in large part to Andre The Giant’s celebrity.”
Roussimoff’s daughter, Robin Christensen-Roussimoff, will act as a consultant on the film, and she says she’s “really excited to watch this story come to life on the big screen.” This is all pretty early, so no other details about the project—including casting, which will probably difficult—have been announced yet.
