An art-felt tribute to Hamilton is the fabric of this project

How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore become… a felt puppet? Lin-Manuel Miranda is leaving Hamilton tomorrow, and Jack and Holman Wang, creators of the Cozy Classics series, have crafted a tribute to Miranda’s portrayal of the revolutionary and prolific Alexander Hamilton in felt form. Stare upon the felted face of Miranda as Hamilton and cry about never getting to see the original cast (Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo are also leaving tomorrow). Or maybe you’re someone who has already had the good fortune (and literal monetary fortune) to see Hamilton—in which case, fuck off.

The Cozy Classics series takes great works of literature and condenses them into just 12 words accompanied by 12 handcrafted needle-felted scenes. For example, Tolstoy’s lengthy War And Peace becomes:

  • Soldier
  • Friends
  • Girl
  • Dance
  • Goodbye
  • Hug
  • Horse
  • Boom
  • Hurt
  • Sleep
  • Snow
  • Love

Chronicle Books, which sells the Cozy Classics series, posted a Cozy Classics version of Hamilton on their blog. The 20,520 words of Hamilton were reduced to:

  • Name
  • Sir
  • Shot
  • Work
  • Wait
  • Battle
  • Write
  • No
  • Burn
  • Quiet
  • Duel
  • Story

That’s pretty decent, but here’s our own version of a 12-word Hamilton:

  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Angelica
  • Eliza
  • And
  • Peggy
