An impostor will be a pastor in TV Land’s Impastor

TV Land has ordered a pilot for Impastor, a show about a con man who hides from his many debts by posing as a small town’s newly hired gay pastor. (It is, apparently, a rather progressive small town.) The network’s order is cast-contingent, so the show’s fate hinges on finding the right lead actor. It’s not immediately obvious who could play a con man turned gay pastor, if only because it’s unlikely TV Land can afford Nicolas Cage.

Impastor is the brainchild of veteran comedy writer Christopher Vane, whose credits included Wings, Dream On, and The Love Boat, and Suddenly Susan before he found work on Disney Channel’s Good Luck, Charlie, which ended earlier this year. It’s the third of TV Land’s recent original series acquisitions: the network also picked up Jennifer Falls, which will star Jaime Pressly, and Younger, which is helmed by Sex And The City creator Darren Starr. At press time, none of the other pilots TV Land is considering had ridiculously punny titles yet.
