And here’s the trailer for that other final Philip Seymour Hoffman movie, God’s Pocket
Fans of the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman have one more reason to feel bittersweet this week. Just days after Lionsgate unveiled the trailer for A Most Wanted Man, starring Hoffman as a wearied German intelligence agent, IFC has followed suit with the trailer for God’s Pocket, starring the actor as a wearied Philadelphia schmoe who covers up the death of his stepson. (The two films premiered within days of each other at Sundance.) The feature directorial debut of Mad Men’s John Slattery, working from a novel by Peter Dexter, God’s Pocket also features John Turturro, Richard Jenkins, Eddie Marsan, and Slattery’s small-screen former flame, Christina Hendricks—most playing struggling, blue-collar denizens of the titular Philly neighborhood. Still, the big draw has to be Hoffman; God’s Pocket, which opens in May, and A Most Wanted Man, which opens in July, represent his final starring roles. After that, moviegoers will be able to catch the actor—as well as his CGI likeness—in the final two Hunger Games movies.
