And now the British are stealing our Whedonverse jobs on S.H.I.E.L.D.

Any expectation that Joss Whedon would use his S.H.I.E.LD. pilot as a refuge for permanently displaced Whedonverse actors appears to be dwindling with each casting report, as the roles we once set aside for familiar faces from Firefly, Dollhouse et al. have increasingly been snapped up by people from shows like ER, which is totally unfair to us and our easy presumptions. Well, today it's happening again: The Hollywood Reporter has Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker in the parts of Agent Gemma Simmons and Agent Leo Fitz—the two lovingly bickering science nerds who seemed to be created specifically as a way of providing more gainful employment to Amy Acker and Fran Kranz. Instead, they'll be played by these two people who, in a source of further outrage, are known primarily for their work on British TV series like Hollyoaks and The Fades. First it was our superheroes, now it's our Joss Whedon characters who are just being handed over to the British without a fight. It's like we never even won the Revolutionary War. What was all that death and tea-dumping for?
