And now there’s a metal cover of Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”

It has now become the point in the summer where Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” has become Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” and every band under the sun is deciding to cover or remix it. Wilco performed its version live at Solid Sound a few weeks ago, and now a metal version is floating around. Charlie Parra del Riego, the guitarist for Canadian heavy metal band Kobra And The Lotus, brought along Swedish singer Tommy Karevik—known by his stage name PelleK—to sing the Pharell vocal line. It’s not as hard of a metal version as some listeners may want—it's a little too clean and pretty and it doesn't really add any bite to the disco guitar melody— and Karevik can’t quite hit all of the notes at a full-bodied soar. But get used to this, since the summer of “Get Lucky” is sure to continue with plenty more covers in the coming weeks.
