And now there will be a From Dusk Till Dawn TV show

Univision continues to gladly take the TV and film properties lazy Americans don’t want to do anymore, with those recently announced Spanish-language adaptations of Breaking Bad and Gossip Girl now being joined by a show based on From Dusk Till Dawn. As Robert Rodriguez announced today, the 1996 movie about getting Salma Hayek to put her feet in Quentin Tarantino’s mouth is primed to be the flagship series of Rodriguez’s previously reported El Rey Network, his new English-language channel targeted at Hispanics, as well as anyone else who enjoys “kick-ass entertainment” in a basic-cable setting. Along with a still-mysterious action series from Fringe’s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the spinoff From Dusk Till Dawn: Dawn Nights [Note: Not actual title] will help launch the network later this year, continuing a series that’s already spawned two direct-to-video sequels of understandably diminishing returns. There’s no indication yet how that will be even further padded out into a weekly show, though presumably it will be just like Cheers, only with more vampires killing everyone.
