And they said it wouldn’t last: Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have broken up

Proving that love cannot survive on Big Dick Energy alone, pop star Ariana Grande and Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson have ended their whirlwind relationship.

The dissolution comes just five months after the couple announced they were dating, and roughly four months and a couple weeks after they got engaged. TMZ reports that the couple has mutually acknowledged “that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off,” which makes sense in light of the death of Grande’s ex, Mac Miller, in September. TMZ adds that it was an amicable split and the couple could very well get back together in the future.

Grande and Davidson’s short, intense tryst was characterized by both the pair’s intense PDAs and Davidson’s endless, often forehead-scrunchingly candid interviews about it. SNL’s been leaning hard on the comedian this season due to the media attention, so this Saturday’s episode should be interesting. Grande, meanwhile, has her excellent pet pig, Piggy Smalls, to lean on.
