Andie MacDowell joins the newly McConaughey-free Magic Mike XXL

In a trade-off of performers so similar that most audiences will probably never even notice the difference, Variety reports that Andie MacDowell is joining the cast of the now Matthew McConaughey-free Magic Mike sequel Magic Mike XXL. It’s like the old saying goes: God never closes a charismatic, sexually-charged door without opening a bland, vaguely pleasant window.

It’s not clear at this point whether MacDowell has been directly cast in McConaughey’s role as opportunistic strip club owner Dallas, or whether she’ll use her electric, sexualized star power tempered with world-weary wisdom to play a new, but similar, role. Either way, she’ll be able to show off some of the erotically charged dance moves she picked up on the Footloose remake.
