André 3000 set to star in Jimi Hendrix biopic, finally, really

After multiple delays and setbacks from the Hendrix estate, OutKast’s André 3000—known in a non-numerical credits as André Benjamin—will now, definitely, actually be playing Young Jimi in a biopic. The film, titled All Is by My Side, starts shooting shortly in Wicklow County, Ireland, according to the Irish Film and Television Network, as reported in Rolling Stone. The project, directed by Undercover Brother and Red Tails writer John Ridley, chronicles Hendrix’s early career in England, when he was running around setting guitars on fire for the first time. Fingers crossed for a Keith Richards cameo, but let’s hope the film doesn’t inspire a mash-up of “Hey Ya” and “Hey Joe.”
