Andrew Garfield to star in noir thriller from It Follows’ David Robert Mitchell

According Variety, Andrew Garfield has signed on to star in Under The Silver Lake, the next film from director David Robert Mitchell. The project is described as a “modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles,” and it’s based on an original script written by Mitchell himself. Around this time last year, Mitchell was teaching audiences about the dangers of sexually transmitted demons with his inventive horror film It Follows, but it remains to be seen whether or not this “modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles” will be a worthy follow-up to that movie and its critical acclaim.

For Garfield, this will presumably continue his recent trend of taking on interesting, non-Spider-Man roles that don’t remind him of the fact that he doesn’t get to be Spider-Man anymore. In 2015, he appeared alongside the always interesting Michael Shannon in 99 Homes, and later this year he’ll co-star with Vince Vaughn in a WWII drama directed by Mel Gibson that will definitely be…interesting.
