Angel Haze bravely raps about years of sexual assault in "Cleaning Out My Closet"

21-year-old rapper Angel Haze is setting herself up to be the next Nicki Minaj—or maybe even the next Eminem. While some of her tracks like “Werkin Girls” have been a minor party bangers, her latest cut, “Cleaning Out My Closet” is a musical gut-punch, a track so honest that it’s shocking. Over the beat from Eminem’s hit of the same name, Haze raps about enduring years of sexual abuse, being raped at age 7, coerced into later activity, and how she’s made it through. It’s an incredibly brave track, and one Haze has released not because she’s seeking attention, but rather because she felt it was important to speak out. This track—and its subject matter—deserves attention.

Haze's latest mixtape, Classick, features this song and comes out this Thursday.
