In recent weeks, the cast of Charmed has come forward to protest about a show they starred in getting a reboot; now, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan have been joined by Angela Lansbury, for the first time since that one fleeting fantasy. The Associated Press asked Lansbury what she thinks of NBC remaking her classic Murder, She Wrote as a vehicle for Octavia Spencer, and naturally, Lansbury expressed some polite, Angela Lansbury-esque reservations about their using that title—not least because “writing” is such an archaic mode of expression. [INSERT GIF.] “I think it’s a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote” Lansbury said, “because Murder, She Wrote will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person.” Lansbury made it clear that she’s a fan of Spencer’s, adding, “I wish her well, but I wish it wasn’t in Murder, She Wrote.” Perhaps if Angela Lansbury doesn’t want the reboot to happen, she should just pay the NBC offices a visit; from what we remember, as soon as Angela Lansbury goes anywhere the bodies start piling up.
