Angelina Jolie to star in new thriller from Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina Jolie is set to star in Those Who Wish Me Dead, a new thriller written and directed by Sicario and Hell Or High Water writer Taylor Sheridan (he also wrote the Sicario sequel, but we’ll ignore that for the sake of optimism). The film is based on a book by Michael Koryta, but apparently it will “veer away” from the novel at “certain points,” so it’s hard to say what exactly the movie will be about. The book centered on a teenager in the witness protection program who found herself hiding from some killers in the wilderness while a wildfire spread in the area, with a woman at a fire lookout tower joining up to help her, but we don’t know how much of that will be changed.
Given Jolie’s involvement, we’d guess that the perspective will be tweaked to emphasize the woman at the fire lookout tower, but all we know for sure that Sheridan’s script is “female-driven” and that it turns into a “by-the-seat-of-your-pants chase movie.” Interestingly, THR says that Sheridan was previously attached to direct a “black-ops thriller” with Chris Pratt this summer called F.A.S.T. that he apparently shelved in favor of this project. Perhaps he realized that F.A.S.T. is a bad name? It sounds like the name of an ‘80s toy line where commando dudes morph into cars.
