Animation students reimagine Casablanca, Apocalypse Now, and other classic film trailers
For the past two years, students at The Animation Workshop/VIA UC in Viborg, Denmark have been tasked with reimagining classic movie trailers in animated form. Clocking in at under a minute a piece (animation is hard), these aren’t replications of the films’ original trailers, but rather mini short films glossing over the overall plot or simply evoking the mood and feel of the original. This year’s crop brought trailers for Casablanca, Apocalypse Now, a neo-Tokyo take on Grease, and Paris, Texas, among others, while last year’s highlights included Alien and The Big Lebowski. You can see them all on The Animation Workshop’s Vimeo page and their website.

This suggests Casablanca would make a pretty good noir adventure game a la Grim Fandango.

John Travolta is … Kaneda.
