Anna Faris [insert military pun like "recruited" or "drafted"] for Private Benjamin
The Hollywood Reporter has news that Anna Faris will star in a remake of the Goldie Hawn movie Private Benjamin, a film THR describes as a "seminal 1980 comedy" for some reason. (Words have meaning, people.) You might recall Benjamin as the movie in which Hawn played a spoiled woman who joins the army. But won't an era in which our army is actively engaged in warfare spoil the fun? Not so, suggests the THR item:
The new take will set the story in contemporary times with modern wars as the backdrop. Insiders say the studio doesn’t want to poke fun at the men and women in the service or take political potshots, but rather focus on the empowerment elements and build on the fish-out-of-water comedy.
Here's a question? Does this make Faris her generation's Hawn? And, if so, does that make Chris Pratt his generation's Kurt Russell? Discuss.
