Anna Faris now pitching her own iffy-sounding comedies

The most common lament heard about Anna Faris—other than, “Sorry our country said that thing about your tits”—is that she’s a game, funny actress who nevertheless often ends up starring in lame, unfunny garbage. That critical axiom could soon be put to the ultimate test now that Paramount has picked up a pitch that comes from Faris herself: The as-yet-untitled comedy will star Faris as a girl whose new roommate turns out to be a “stalker from hell,” which, uh oh. The Single White Female setup is a fairly overdone premise, one that’s long since turned into self-parody, but supposedly this is all based on “a funny incident that happened to [Faris] in real life.” You mean that time Faris saw The Roommate? Anyway, should Faris somehow make a bad movie that she herself pitched from a story based on her very own life, well, it may finally be time to retire that old “she just needs better material” line. Good luck, Anna.
