Fox’s remake of the ITV series Broadchurch has now added an American and an Australian to its cast. Variety reports that Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn and Animal Kingdom’s Jacki Weaver have joined the retitled Gracepoint, which moves the action from the British coast to a California town west of Sacramento. Gunn will take over as Ellie Miller (played by Olivia Colman in the ITV series), the detective working alongside David Tennant, who is reprising his lead role as divorced Detective Alec Hardy. Weaver will play Susan Wright, a “mysterious woman who moves into the town’s RV park,” originated by Pauline Quirke. Gracepoint will be Gunn’s first major role since her Emmy victory for Breaking Bad—and, without giving away any spoilers, Gunn's role in relation to some other characters yet to be cast should spark some intriguing parallels to Skyler White.
