Anna Kendrick attends yet another wedding in the trailer for Table 19
Weddings, like many of life’s unpleasantries, seem to come in clumps. After a few blissful years without ever having to feign happiness for couples you kind of know, you’ll suddenly find a stack of invites piling up on your end table. That appears to be where Anna Kendrick is at the moment. Just one day before the crude screwball comedy Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates—in which she co-stars with Aubrey Plaza, Zac Efron, and Adam Devine—is set to hit theaters, the trailer for another nuptial-themed comedy has arrived with the morning mail.
In Table 19, Kendrick plays the recently dumped ex of the groom’s best man, who unwisely decides to show her face only to find that it’s been relegated to the outcast table in the far back corner of the reception hall. Also consigned to that remote location is a sadsack collection of characters played by Lisa Kudrow, Craig Robinson, Stephen Merchant, Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), and June Squibb. The castaway guests bond, dance, then appear to steal the wedding cake—and one or two of them probably find true love.
The screenplay was written by Mark and Jay Duplass, who were originally supposed to direct it. Somehow, though, it fell off their schedule and Jeffrey Blitz (Spellbound, Rocket Science) wound up with the bouquet in in his hand.
Moviegoers are cordially invited to attend theatrical viewings of Table 19 starting January 20, 2017.
