Announcing the return of TV Roundtable, with a new format, and a call for your favorite scary episodes
Good news, everyone! The TV Roundtable is back! We know you’ve missed it while it was away, lo these many weeks.
But we’re changing the Roundtable up just a bit, to give it more of a conversational feel and to allow for more discussion than just a bunch of writers saying their piece. It will also allow for more varied topics and themes, like our first theme, Scary Episodes, which is happening for reasons we haven’t yet entirely fathomed. We’ve opened up the roundtable to more of our TV Club writers, but from now on, just four writers will be talking about any given show per week. We’ve split up into three teams, and here’s what our next three articles will look like:
- Later today, Todd VanDerWerff, Zack Handlen, Genevieve Koski, and Carrie Raisler check out Doctor Who’s “Blink.”
- On Oct. 9, Erik Adams, Phil Dyess-Nugent, Molly Eichel, and Ryan McGee will take a look at Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s “Hush.”
- And on Oct. 16, Sonia Saraiya, Brandon Nowalk, David Sims, and Pilot Viruet will offer their thoughts on The X-Files’ “Home.”
But here’s the part where you come in: We’re going to be doing two Readers’ Choice articles per Roundtable from now on, and we need you to make those nominations now. Start throwing out your favorite scary episodes in comments, with one big caveat: For this Roundtable and this Roundtable only, things already covered by TV Club are eligible, so you’re not just limited to the episode of Little House On The Prairie with the mime rapist (though you should absolutely nominate that because it’s fucking terrifying).
Check out the return later today, and begin making nominations in comments!
