Another day, another original cast member joining Heroes Reborn

Here is yet another reminder that the Heroes reboot, Heroes Reborn, is still happening as Sendhil Ramamurthy is the latest original cast member to be roped back into this messy, disappointing universe.

Ramamurthy will reprise his role as Dr. Mohinder Suresh, the genetics professor who started researching evolved humans after his father’s death. Suresh, initially a human, got all power-hungry and injected himself with an adrenaline compound to become an artificial evolved human with multiple superhuman abilities. But just as all things eventually devolved and derailed on Heroes, Suresh got gross and weird as he turned into a human-insect hybrid thing. Eventually, he lost a lot of his powers—as well as the insect side effects—ended up in an asylum, broke out, and…well, there’s really no point in going through the character’s entire arc, because as with most in this series, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Ramamurthy will reunite with all the other suckers who have been pulled into Heroes Reborn, including Masi Oka, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Greg Grunberg, and Jack Coleman. As a reminder, fan favorite Zachary Quinto will not return as the head-slicing Sylar. He got out while he could. But when NBC closes a Zachary, it opens…another Zachary. Chuck’s Zachary Levi will join Heroes Reborn as “Luke Collins,” but details on his character’s evolution status have not been revealed. Other actors new to the universe include Orphan Black’s Dylan Bruce, The Boy Next Door’s Ryan Guzman, and Robbie Kay, who played evil Peter Pan on Once Upon A Time.

Helmed by original Heroes creator Tim Kring, the 13-episode miniseries will air on NBC Thursdays this fall.
