Aphex Twin might be dumping a ton of unreleased music on Soundcloud

Aphex Twin has cultivated such a history of doing weird things that, when someone does a weird thing that seems Aphex Twin-related, people naturally just assume he’s behind it. More often than not, they’re right. So, when some mysterious Soundcloud user started uploading hours and hours (and hours and hours) of music that sounded suspiciously Aphex Twin-y, Pitchfork put on its most ironic deerstalker hat and deduced that, yeah, it’s probably Aphex Twin. The reasoning gets a bit dense for anyone who isn’t a writer for Pitchfork, but it does seem as though Richard D. James—the boring real name of the guy behind Aphex Twin—is the one uploading the songs. So why is he doing it? What does this all mean? We have no idea, and neither does Pitchfork. All we’re left with is a bunch of electronic music and, in the end, isn’t that all anyone ever needed anyway?
