Apparently, someone’s campaigning for a Legally Blonde sequel
Politics makes strange bedfellows and, judging by a recent interview with Reese Witherspoon, unnecessary movie sequels. While on Fashionably Late With Rachel Zoe recently, Witherspoon titillated the host and audience with rumors (and pitches) she’s heard about a Legally Blonde sequel. The first two films, Legally Blonde and Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, saw Witherspoon play Elle Woods, a rich sorority girl who overcame such obstacles as being jilted by her old-money boyfriend for being nouveau riche, and later, navigating corruption in Washington D.C. while lobbying for an animal rights bill that would allow her to bring her dog’s mother to her wedding (that could be an Honest Trailers summary).
Apparently, writers and other industry insiders have proposed storylines wherein Woods would run for “office or the Supreme Court.” Zoe’s co-host then suggested that perhaps the character and her signature color (pink) could run for president, an idea that Witherspoon seemed to endorse, what with women being all up in politics these days. Sadly, neither Witherspoon nor the hosts suggested the obvious sequel title, Legally Blonde Goes To The Coral Office.
