Aquaman writer swims over to The Creature From The Black Lagoon

Nailing down his rep as Hollywood’s go-to guy for the damp action genre, Aquaman screenwriter Will Beall is making his way over to Universal’s The Creature From The Black Lagoon. Beall—who also penned Gangster Squad and the TV version of Training Day, although there’s no fish parallels there, so whatevs—will write the reboot of the classic monster film, just the latest in the studio’s ongoing efforts to turn its old monster properties into a cinematic universe of its very own. Other potential entries in the franchise include Dracula, Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, Van Helsing, all of which would follow in the shambling footsteps of Tom Cruise’s The Mummy, which has a new trailer arriving this Sunday.
