Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green, and Eminem among Grammy performers

With Arcade Fire’s Grammy nomination for album of the year (just one of three awards that The Suburbs is eligible for) suggesting that the Recording Academy is beginning to look beyond Top 40 and aging industry stalwarts—albeit still only paying attention when they hit No. 1 on the charts—now comes news that the Canadian collective will also perform at the ceremony, making their infiltration complete. In fact, Arcade Fire has already become part of the Grammys’ interactive promotional campaign, Music Is Life Is Music, which has to do with maps and “sharing your audio autobiography with the world” or something. All we found out is that some dude in Washington really likes Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry, which is somewhat less than edifying.

Anyway, other announced performers so far include slightly more expected names like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, and Miranda Lambert, while Cee Lo Green will also presumably serve up another polite-company rendition of “Fuck You,” during which Gwyneth Paltrow will attempt to take the stage for a surprise duet and find herself tackled by overzealous security guards, audibly snapping her like a twig in winter. The ceremony airs on CBS, February 13 at 8 p.m. ET.
