Arcade Fire lands its first No. 1 album

As first reported on Spoon’s Twitter feed—and later confirmed by Merge—Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs has debuted at No. 1 on both the U.S. and U.K. chart. It’s the first album by the band to do so (2007’s Neon Bible previously topped out at No. 2), with total sales this week hitting 156,000-plus. Yes, people still buy albums. No, "indie rock" doesn't really mean anything anymore. [HT to Mog Music Network]
