The first thing to know about Riverdale, the Archie comics series from The CW, is that Archie is having an affair with Mrs. Grundy. That enough should be a good indicator of what Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Greg Berlanti have done to these beloved characters, but now we have a trailer, and it’s confirmation that this show is going to be heavy on charged, brooding glances. Archie, played by K.J. Apa, is a bona fide hottie here, and, just so you know, “K.J. Apa shirtless” comes up as a recommended search on Google when typing in his name. Aside from shots that make that particular search redundant, the teaser sets up a murder mystery afoot in the titular town. There’s a body bag, bloody hands, and police tape. It all, frankly, looks pretty grim.
