Ariana Grande and John Legend give “Beauty And The Beast” their best belts
Few pop star interpretations of Disney songs are as iconic as Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson’s take on the title number from Beauty And The Beast. (Sorry, Demi Lovato’s ”Let It Go.”) Since the studio is in the business of attempting to recreate magic these days, it enlisted Ariana Grande and John Legend to sub in on the duet for the upcoming live-action remake of the movie. Thankfully, however, they didn’t really try to update the tune with many 21st-century frills. In fact, it’s almost charming how well this would fit on ’90s radio.
Look you still may prefer Angela Lansbury—or whatever Emma Thompson will do in the Bill Condon film—but as saccharine pop numbers with a heck of a lot of belting go, this is solid and not as terrible as it could have been.
