Ariana Grande headlined Coachella on Sunday night (only the fourth woman to do so, by the way) and she came armed with the most effective crowd-pleaser: unrelenting ‘90s nostalgia. During her set. the pop songstress invited most of ‘N Sync onstage for a partial reunion – Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and JC Chasez. Unsurprisingly, Justin Timberlake was too busy wrapping up his Man Of The Woods tour to attend. But that’s okay because Ariana was on hand to fill in during a performance of the band’s hit, “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” This technically left Chasez as the sole original leader and for one brief moment, all was right with pop. They also performed a mash-up of “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” and N Sync’s “Makes Me Ill.”

Diddy and Mase also joined Grande for a tribute to Notorious B.I.G. Despite glaring technical difficulties, Nicki Minaj trudged through a guest appearance of “Bang Bang” to the best of her ability.
