As a veteran of The Flash, filmmaker Jeff Cassidy knows a thing or two about superheroes and needlessly keeping secrets from people, both of which come to play in his new short film Sidekick. Starring Josh Dallas from Once Upon A Time, Emily Bett Rickards from Arrow, and Tom Cavanagh from The Flash, the film is about a dad trying to convey some difficult information to his son through the guise of a superhero adventure. The imagery of the story-within-a-story is pretty on-the-nose, but Dallas’ character isn’t exactly trying to make it hard for his son to put together that his dad is the superhero, his mom is the damsel-in-distress, and the poison slowly killing the superhero is pretty much exactly that.
