As I Lay Dying frontman going to prison for trying to hire someone to kill his wife
Nine months after first being arrested for allegedly hiring someone to kill his wife, As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis has pled guilty and faces nine years in jail and a somewhat paltry $10,000 fine. The metalcore frontman admitted Tuesday that he had hired a man to kill his estranged wife, Meggan, after she tried to dissolve their marriage. Lambesis gave an undercover cop $1,000 to do his bidding, as well as explicit instructions as to how he wanted it carried out.
Lambesis had first pled not guilty to the charges, but apparently changed his mind after being released on $2 million bail. Last year, Lambesis’ lawyer told reporters that his client had been on steroids at the time of the incident, something he said “devastatingly affected” the singer’s thought process.
As I Lay Dying’s last record, Awakened, came out in 2012 and debuted at no. 11 on the Billboard Top 200.
