As long as fans keep buying tickets, the John Wick series will go on forever
There have only been two John Wick movies (with a third on the way), but they’ve made it clear that there’s an infinite capacity for depth in the series’ increasingly weird assassin mythology. Some of that mythology will be explored in the Starz spin-off, but director Chad Stahelski says that he and series star Keanu Reeves have so many ideas for how to expand the movies that he’d be happy to spend the rest of his career making John Wick movies.
Stahelski offered that news to Entertainment Weekly, adding that he likes the series because “there’s no limit,” which becomes even better when you add the fact that its working with its own mythology and the studio (Lionsgate) supports all of the “wacky decisions” that he and the rest of the creative team come up with. “If people go to see the movie, and it makes money, and they came back to us, Keanu and I have ideas for days,” Stahelski says, noting that there are “worse ways to spend your career” than by making John Wick movies.
John Wick: Chapter 3 (or is it John Wick 3: Parabellum?) will be in theaters in May.
