As winter (technically) comes to an end for the year, so do Girls and Looking
Here’s what’s going on in the world of television for Sunday, March 22. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Girls / Looking (HBO, 9 / 10 p.m.): On Girls fourth-season finale, everyone tries to convince Laird and Caroline not to go through with a home birth, but since the episode is called “Home Birth,” we’re thinking they do not succeed. Either way, Joshua Alston will be there to report on all the gory details, both physical and emotional. Meanwhile, Looking will close out the season while it’s still looking for a renewal. (Brandon Nowalk sees what we did there.)
Also noted
Neighbors With Benefits (A&E, 10 p.m.): A new reality series about a suburban Ohio town that just happens to be a swinger town. Yes, this is a reality series about a suburban swinger town, and no, we have no idea why such a thing took this long to happen.
The Last Man On Earth (9 and 9:30 p.m.): Fox is once again airing two back-to-back episodes, meaning we’ll get twice as much of Will Forte trying to seduce January Jones in the barren wasteland that is a post-Virus Earth (and/or the Arizona desert). Caroline Framke is holding out hope that January will get to show her new castmates some of this action:
Regular coverage
Bob’s Burgers (Fox, 7:30 p.m.)
The Good Wife (CBS, 9 p.m.)
The Walking Dead (AMC, 9 p.m.)
Shameless (Showtime, 9 p.m.)
Battle Creek (CBS, 10 p.m.)
Classic coverage
The Simpsons (3 p.m.)
What else is on?
Once Upon A Time (ABC, 8 p.m.): We never know what’s going on with Once Upon A Time, and its summaries always look like Disney fanfiction, but tonight’s episode is called “Poor Unfortunate Soul” and so we are duty bound to highlight it.
Take notes, RuPaul’s Drag Race ladies: Ursula truly is the fishiest queen of them all.
The Royals (E!, 10 p.m.): “Prince Liam is reunited with his ex-girlfriend Gemma at the annual garden party. Elsewhere, the Queen and Cyrus work to counteract King Simon’s wishes.” Okay, the jury may still be out on this show, but how much do we love that they refer to Elizabeth Hurley as simply, “the Queen”?
Who Do You Think You Are?: Angie Harmon (TLC, 10 p.m.): This is a show that follows celebrities learning more about their family histories, but since we’ve recently been rewatching 30 Rock, we like to think it’s just hosts marching up to celebrities are demanding, “who do you think you are, Angie Harmon?!”
NCAA Basketball: West Virginia vs. Maryland (TNT, 5:30 p.m.): College basketball is on and here is one of those games. Maybe you care. Maybe you only care because of your bracket. Maybe you don’t care at all. But it is our duty to inform you, and inform you we have, so hey, good for us.
The Parent Trap (CMT, 8 p.m.): The movie that bought Lindsay Lohan years of goodwill airs tonight to remind us exactly why it bought Lindsay Lohan years of goodwill. She really is such a goddamn delight in this movie, as are her girl gang camper minions, Dennis Quaid, and the ever-luminous Natasha Richardson. Meanwhile, Meredith Blake is a stunt queen for the ages.
In case you missed it
Bloodline: As soon as her daily Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt reviews came to an end, Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya stepped sideways into daily reviews of Bloodline. Always on that Netflix tip, Kayla.
