Ashley Judd joins Epix’s Berlin Station for season 2
Epix’s strategy for scripted TV seems pretty simple: get a few big names—Nick Nolte, say, or The Hobbit and Hannibal’s Richard Armitage—in front of the camera, make sure everything looks “prestige-y” in terms for the camerawork and the lighting, and get to work. To that end, the network’s Berlin Station has added another big screen star to its roster, with Variety reporting that Ashley Judd has signed on for the show’s recently announced second season.
For those who missed its first season of cloak and dagger shenanigans, Berlin Station centers on Armitage’s Daniel Miller, a CIA analyst tasked with uncovering a German whistleblower leaking agency secrets. Judd—who’s spent the last few years shoring up the Divergent series—will play the new head of Berlin’s embattled CIA outpost, a character nicknamed “The Station Whisperer” for her ability to put broken teams together again. She’s also described as both a “loyalist” and “a maverick,” so you probably shouldn’t expect Berlin Station’s heady cocktail of intrigue and divided loyalties to let up any time soon. The show’s second season is expected to debut some time later this year.
