At long last, Bob Saget and Carly Rae Jepsen appear on stage together
Bob Saget is a noted dirty jokester, a wise sage to the Olsen twins, and a centerpiece cast member of beloved ’80s and ’90s sitcom Full House. Carly Rae Jepsen is an undisputed pop superstar, a multi-platform talent, and the voice behind the re-recorded theme song for Netflix’s Full House sequel, Fuller House. The two are 29 years apart in age, which just so happens to be the time jump that takes place in the latter show’s pilot. Clearly the only way to read this seeming coincidence is as a symbol of destiny, which was ultimately fulfilled over the weekend when Saget and Jepsen met on stage in front of an audience of thousands.
As reported by Stereogum, the two were in Milwaukee Friday night for a standup show and a concert, respectively. After his set, Saget made his way over to Jepsen’s show to crash the proceedings, at which point the crowd—which never could have dreamed of witnessing such a titanic collaboration—went completely insane. As is the custom in such situations, the 59-year-old Saget promptly whipped out his phone to take a selfie, and then the two launched into a duet performance of the Full House theme song. Despite having nearly three decades to prepare for the moment, Saget’s “I barely know it” quip turned out to be true, as he openly stumbled through the lyrics. To be fair, the crowd’s screams suggested no one cared, and frankly it’d be a little weird if an aged Danny Tanner outshone Jepsen anyway.
